Puebla is the largest city in the Mexican state of Puebla, and the fourth largest city in Mexico. In the past, the city was an important trading zone. This led to the creation of its spectacular colonial structures and thus has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can find many historically preserved sites and gaudy Mexican baroque architecture. The city even houses an entire museum of its baroque history called the Museo Internacional del Barroco. Puebla's charm doesn't stop at its architecture, many of the country's mouth-watering delicacies were created here such as Mole Poblado, Chile Nogales, and the Torta's sister sandwich Cemita.
In terms of gay life, this University town is teeming with lots of rowdy nightlife which is centered around the historic district where drag queens perform through the night alongside strippers dancing to reggaeton and Latin pop. For a "smaller" Mexican city, it also has an impressive amount of gay bathhouses and sex clubs. Xanenetla, once a notoriously dangerous neighborhood, is now covered in street art and quaint plazas while the whimsical Toad Alley is filled with antique treasures by day and relaxed cantinas by night. Just outside the city is the impressive Cantona Archaeological site where you can walk amongst ancient ruins.
